Staccato Christmas Thoughts

Spent the day here at Linwood House. Truly glorious. Taking a break in the library now to get quiet, settle my heart and reflect on the day. Here are a few thoughts:

Staccato Christmas Thoughts

Emotions build
build
build up
ride high
A giant Christmas crescendo of expectation, hope and preparation

Day. Day. Day. Then, this 365th filled with Jesus Story—
core, center, essence
Christmas, in its fortissimo glory
beautiful.

The days of this year reach
climax
our human relationships and efforts combined—bursting forth, giving birth to Life.
Spilling over.
One giant eruption of gifts, wrapping, newness, food.
The ones we love.
All the people we like close.

But still messy.
Still broken.

So, if we’re lucky, the High comes down
slowly,
slowly,
beautifully.
A lot more safari than rollercoaster.
And we can ease into the days afterwards.
Spent.
Resting.
Glory-ing.

And we can see spills, and rips and candle wax drips
Through this lens of Hope.
This Jesus child, born today into hearts.

Hope for another year.
